If you’re a woman who can carry a tune and always wanted to learn how to sing four-part, a cappella harmony, here’s your chance.
The Carolina Style Chorus of Sweet Adelines International is holding auditions for area women who want to sing the same kind of unaccompanied harmonies sung by The Manhattan Transfer and The Backstreet Boys.
The chorus rehearses at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 217 Second Ave. N.E. in Conover. During rehearsals, Director Jean Danaher teaches and reviews the basics of good singing and vocal production.
Carolina Style has been performing in the Hickory area for 30 years. The chorus is part of Sweet Adelines International, a nonprofit music education association for women whose goal is perpetuating a cappella harmony, barbershop style. Any woman with average singing ability is welcome.
